What is GORE-TEX Lining?
Gore-tex is a waterproof/breathable membrane/membrane type. Companies such as Bestard, Patagonia, The North Face, Marmot, Mammut, Arc Teryx, Chiruca combine and use the membrane fabrics they purchased from Gore with their own products. In some cases, companies send their own fabrics to Gore to be combined with the gore-tex membrane. Some companies only buy membranes from Gore and do the lamination themselves. For example, when you buy a Marmot technical jacket, the cutting, sewing and fabric of this product were made by Marmot. Only the Gore-tex layer used in the jacket is supplied by Gore.
What is VIBRAM Base?
The emergence of Vibram® soles has a tragic history.
In 1935, it was determined that the reason why 6 Italian mountaineers could not stand the heavy mountain conditions and lost their lives in the Alps was insufficient and unsuitable leather shoes.
After this incident, the Italian inventor Vitale Bramani, a close friend of the mountaineers who died, started to look for a hard and durable alternative material to be used in mountaineering boots.
Inspired by his own name, he founded the Vibram® company in 1937 and started the production of rubber (ficus elastica) shoe soles.
The rubber soles produced were started to be used in mountaineering boots and in 1954, Vibram® soles were tried on the boots of the Italian team that made the first successful K2 summit climb.
After the successful K2 summit climb, the name Vibram® has gained worldwide fame. Vibram® soles are light, flexible and highly durable thanks to their high coefficient of friction. Since the sole patterns are specially designed, it provides high road holding as well as water, snow and mud evacuation.
